Why Namibia as destination?
Namibia is a country of striking contrasts, amazing diversity, and considered to be the safest and most diverse safari vacation destination in Africa.
Namibia has quite a few world unique highlights: ranging from the world's highest dunes at Sossusvlei, second largest canyon in the world, one of the longest National parks in the world, the oldest desert, and even the largest known meteorite in the world!
BUT Namibia is not all semi-arid desert!.
The central highland is mountainous with thick Acacia bush, and the further north you travel, the greener it gets, with the northern sections along the Kunene and Ovamboland regions, the climate range from dry to nearly sub-tropical.
The ever-green Okavango Delta Panhandle and water-rich river swampland regions of the Caprivi / Kwando areas, got a comfortable tropical climate.
NATIONAL PARKS AND RESERVES.
Having a very low population density, very good road infra-structure and top quality camping sites, Namibia is the perfect camping safari destination.
Campsites are clean, and it is normal to have flushing toilets, hot and cold showers, and often a swimming-pool.
This country has endless savannah vistas, with staggering geology ranging from deserts to sub-tropical regions, spectacular Game Reserves and National Parks, interesting fauna and flora and fascinating cultures: from the old traditional cultures of the Himba tribe and Bushman (San) people.
The Caprivi region, also gives easy access to Botswana's Chobe National Park, and to both sides of the Victoria Falls in Zambia / Zimbabwe, all within a short distance from the border. This route forms part of many overland safari itineraries in Southern Africa.
Each region offers a selection lodges, ranging from affordable small private establishments to top luxury lodges.
Due to the still very strong old colonial German influence, the general standard of facilities is very high.
Each region is very unique and diverse, and this diversity could best be experience when combining various regions on a vacation.
One of the very popular luxury safari options is the 'fly-in safari'. Flying from lodge to lodge, and exploring each region by air and land.
