Detritus - Namibia Desert Insect Food

Detritus is a collective name for windblown debris, this is composed of parts of plants which have been detached, broken in small pieces and distributed by the wind. It may include seeds and other reproductive parts of plants as well as debris of animal origin, for example, faeces and dead bodies or parts thereof. In the Namib Desert of Namibia, plant detritus form the main diet of many desert dwelling insects.
